I got an email from Tire Rack,

Hi George and thanks for the email,
I show the 235/40R18 MICHELIN PILOT SPORT CUP is currently priced at 248.00 each but is on manufacturer back order. The only date of availability i show is June 30, and that is an estimated date. If i can be of any further assistance or you would like to place an order i can be reached at 800-428-8355 X269. If you place this order over the internet please use my name in the "previous contact" box so that if there are any problems I can take care of them for you. This will lessen the chances of delays.

Wow, I got lucky I guess, I ordered mine over the phone from TireRack in Feb, they came within 3 days, and the fronts were only $160 then, which seemed very cheap?

I'm having them put on next week, along with the Pagid Yellow pads, and I have 4 track days all coming up very soon, so I'll post my feelings about the new tires, and time differences too.

pig4bill last week I did 240 miles in a day at big Willow. I was able to do an average speed of 88mph well over 20 laps, using my incar computer, and that = around 1.39-1.40. I'm also looking at transponders, so my times will also be a lot more accurate from now on.

Guys,

Don't fret if the 235's are not available. You can use the 225 with no problem at all. I ran the PSC on myh GT2 using the narrower fronts and they felt fine - more stick than the Corsa's which were the usual 235 in front.

I am hearing this from more and more people. Not to mention the fact that the Dunlop has a bit more tread depth and appears to be more *streetable* due to some more water dissipating grooves.

Hi Curt,

Did you get any lap times at PRW? What did you think of the Mitsu EVO on street tires?

Someone came up to me at the end of the day and said they timed a couple of laps of at 1:37 where both laps were the same time.

The Evo is a cool car, very fast in a straight line! There was a little bit of drama when it spun in front of me at turn 2 (the driver was watching his rear-view mirror and over-cooked the turn-in). He popped up a cone which cracked my front bumper.

Oh that sucks. That driver never driven the car before, that was his first day in it. Owner of the EVO does 1:39 on street tires. Are you using stock pads? Friend with a GT3 is looking for race pads. 1:37 is pretty damn quick!

Stock pads. I don't mind the crack, this kind of thing happens.

1:37 is ok, it was the end of a long day and I wasn't particularly trying to turn fast laps. Hard to say how much faster I'd be were I to push a little harder instead of loafing through 5-6, lifting at 7, etc. Maybe not any faster since my fast laps always come when I'm not trying hard.

I'm hesitant to really drive the thing 10/10's, first because it's a new car to me and second, I keep thinking to myself while I'm driving around, "if I want to drive a race car, I should get a Cup car, this is a street car with full leather, Xenons, etc. It's not a race car."

Yeah, I'd imagine 1:37 wasn't going for a fast lap, prolly in traffic or something. I'd imagine you'd be doing 1:35 and below, going for a good lap? Bunch of my VCMC friends know you back from autoxing.

1:35? Maybe I could get there, but I need to put a cage and harness before pushing it harder.

Maybe it's someone else since I've never autocrossed outside of skills days.

I've do recall instructing Vancouver folks at BMWCCA and ORPCA events a few years back. Also, I did bit of racing in ICSCC (Conference) from 1998-2001 in a BMW sedan.

Wheel and Tire Zone,
Ask for Andrew at 905-624-1577

I called them this morning, and they are expecting a call on the 235/28 MPSC, the price which is not exactly cheap but the Canadian dollar is getting weaker lately is $445.00 a tire, i paid $410.00 a tire at a different shop but they will not ship.

I guess anybody who deals with Michelin tires in Toronto or Montreal could sell them.

Are these tires made in the USA or are they from France?

If they come from France there will be a duty charge to the US.

You can call your credit card company for exchange rates.
