Default Will the 996GT2 values ever exceed the 997GT2s ?

As a comparison the Ferrari 360 Challenge Stradale is less refined and slower than the newer 430 Scuderia but are more valuable.
Reasons postulated are less production , the first of its kind and more "raw".
Doesn't the 996GT2 check those blocks ?

Hard to know. I can’t believe both models still haven’t skyrocketed commensurate with their rarity. It’s coming though (I think).

I think a big reason challenge stradales are more expensive than the scuds has to do with the much lower production numbers. I can’t recall how many 996 gt2’s they made, but I know they only made a couple hundred 997’s, so I doubt the 996 is substantially more rare (even if marginally so). The 997 gt2 is one of my bucket list cars. But I fear I will miss the boat. I think it’s only a matter of time before they are very very expensive.

2007-2009 7.1 GT2 3.6 1242
2010-2011 7.2 GT2 RS 500

I followed the 6GT2 market for years and when they flipped from depreciating to appreciating jumped in. My timing was perfect.
Both 6 and 7GT2s have kind of stagnated in appreciation recently and there are still some 7GT2s out there under 200K so its not too late.

Just curious, approx when did the flip happen? Another local 996 GT2 owner said he bought his about 10 years ago for $50k, 2003 with less than 20k miles, 2 owner. Said he test drove a 997 GT2 and decided on the 996 because it was more of a drivers car (raw).

Would love to have a 997 some day myself

do you have the us production numbers? I had to laugh at the comment that 7's can still be had under 200k so "not too late." Well, I guess I could liquidate my fleet and get one, but I can't bring myself to do that! The Red 997 with "highish" miles that recently sold on BAT was the best deal I had seen in a long time (159k!)

According to a display piece that came with my car which references The Essential Companion by Adrian Streather:

317 total 996 GT2 sold in US by PCNA:

2002: 198
2003: 90
2004: 24
2005: 5

Nice. I guess I definitely missed the boat (can't complaint though...I did buy my gt3 for 39k!). I still have yet to drive a gt2 of any iteration. I think I need something turbocharged with lots of torque to balance out my stable of high-revving, low torque cars!

The good old days are long gone it's honestly a '3 with Turbo+ power, they WORK. My current 986 probably makes about 1/3 the torque of my '2 but still love it too..all about variety and usage

Not even close, the 3 is a better balanced, more dialed in car, superior for track use especially.

except for some stock damper valving and spring rate differences they're literally the same chassis part number for part number lol ...GT2 is vastly quicker at the track mod for mod
IMO, they drive very similar back to back outside of power/engine difference
