Default Brake pads for the street...

So, read all of the past threads. Any new consensus for a good, not loud, not too dusty, street pad. In the past I would just leave the track pads in but since the “-19” I’ve used the car much more on the street and the noise, esp at the shore, is not optimal (dust not great either but that at least can be cleaned and doesn’t turn heads, scare children, etc, lol). Anyone found a good mfgr/pad/part # you could share? TIA

I thought I'd bump this as I'm interested in the same topic. In addition to the Raybestos, any new options for a street pad with a good compromise of dust/wear/squeal/bite/fade?

If I can ever figure out what I put on my GT3 ages ago!

My pads have virtually zero dust, no squeal, and work well for auto cross.

At some point I will be doing a massive cleanup of my garage and hope to find the original boxes.

I’ve found the oem yellow pads (different to the pavid yellow race pad afaik) to be underwhelming. Very numb from cold and a crazy amount of dust. I’d love to fit something that works better from cold with minimal dust for street use.

Bumping this one as it appears I actually have the OEM "yellows" as well. @Marv any chance you know which pads you have? Those sound perfect for my application.

Thanks!

I can't sure if this is it, but the box I have is from PBR.

XBG Semi-Metalic

The label has what looks like a part number of 7892-D991 M

I wish I was sure about these. Unfortunately I am not positive if these are the right ones.

That looks right for the rear pad. Found the fronts based off that. That looks like the front pads for CCBs that have been converted to iron rotors?

Man, a set front and rear is cheaper than most front pads. Might have to give these a shot.

Marv - Do the pads shown in Sirenty’s link “look” like yours; ie, weights on top, backplate color, etc? Inquiring minds and all….

No, I don't think so, but I might be interested in trying those myself some day.

Took a look again because I was wondering myself (and because the pads seem too narrow in the pics), and I had it wrong above referring to it being the rear pad. The part listed, 7892-D991, looks to be for PCCBs that have been converted to iron rotors. Aren’t the front rotor size and caliper basically the same between PCCB and iron? I wonder what the difference in pad is. https://www.ecstuning.com/b-cool-car...7892-d991~ccp/

According to Cool Carbon, the combination front/back ECS has is correct for standard calipers.

Though if you don’t have CC pads, Marv, I wonder what you do have. I’d be interested in a good, quieter street pad.

Yes, I would like to know as well! I am just not absolutely sure. I really like the performance for the street (no noise, no dust) and it's perfectly fine for autocross.

I'll keep looking.

Blacks are my rear track pad to balance out the front bias (pfc’s up front), Blacks are noise and dust unless cooking (ie, at the track)…

No bueno for this thread topic (we r looking for dustless noise free pads here, and its not likely we will be successful in our search unless Marv gets off his lazy azz and pullz a mfger and part # lol. 🙂 😉…. )
