Default 235/40 Michelin Cups

I ran the 235/40 size for the first time at Buttonwillow last weekend. I like them, the car is really fun to drive with the Cups. They have slightly more grip than the 225/40 size, but not enough more to alter the balance of the car significantly. Both sizes seem to run well at the similar camber, toe and hot pressures.

Did you happen to 'pyro' them?
Also what alignment are you running?

I didn't pyro them. Wear is close to even. Setup is -2.6° front, -2.4° rear camber, 1/32" front, 5/32" rear toe total, 33/35psi hot.

Mike: This may be a dumb question, but would you happen to know how to convert inches to minutes in the alignment context?
Thanks in advance.

Jack, my car was setup using minutes: 3 minutes per side front, 15 minutes per side rear. The formula to convert to total toe in inches is 2 * 18 * sin(a) where the 18 is the wheel diameter and a is the angle per side.

The factory spec for the car is 4 +/- 1 per side front, 13 +/- 2 per side rear. So my car is at minimum toe at the front, maximum toe at the rear.

Have you ever tried the stock tire at the track?

How much better are the Sport Cups over the stock tire?

Where did you get the Sport Cups from?

That seems like a track only set up, of camber, do you drive it on the street and if so, do you have allot of wear on the inner part of the tire?

I will run the car in the local solo 1 events, we run 1 warm up and 3 hot laps, and i am up in the air about what tire to use.

thanks

Z06, over inflating the tires by about 10-15psi tends to cause the centers to wear rather than the inside edges. I do this on the street when I don't need the grip. The OEM tires work fine on the track, lap times seem to be a couple of percent slower than the Cups.

Mike,
You're running the Cups on the street?
