Default PSA Lower Transmission Coolant Crossover Pipes

I am refreshing some items on my new to me 996 GT3 with Porsche Colorado Springs and we discovered that the lower transmission coolant pipes take a beating in cars that are tracking/driven. My pipes were flat spotted and had scratches that were several mm deep, leaving very little remaining metal to ward off disaster. If you're under your car I would suggest checking out the lower transmission pipes. Replacement cost is fairly inexpensive if you are doing a coolant flush anyway. If you're in Colorado, Jason Schmitt, a tech at Porsche Colorado Springs is awesome.

They shouldn’t take a beating as there is a plastic tray underneath them serving as protection. Yours is likely missing. With that said, the pipes are relatively cheap and clean used ones can be sourced on eBay for a few bucks. There are several clips that hold them up off the tray that are frequently broken.

On mine the plastic bracket/clips that hold them in place (Two I think) had swollen from heat cycling over the years and they no longer snapped shut. I would imagine replacing these helps prevent the tubing from dropping out of place and rubbing on something. Thanks for posting this. The plastic clips/brackets are pretty inexpensive from Porsche and easily accessible to change after removing the rear undertray.

Nick,

If you order some shoot out the part numbers as I need to do the same in the next few weeks!

Thanks OP for the heads up, will get the clips back in place to make sure I dont suffer the same fate.
