Fender Linings

Fender Linings
Except for the most forward of the front wheel well linings, my wheel housing liners have been rubbed and worn to the point of failure at both the front and rear wheels.
The car has a reasonable track suspension and is a little lower than Kussmaul.
A few years ago I stopped replacing the worn liners, except to maintain the front liner. This large piece includes a section that extends under the side radiators and is important for management of cooling air.
So far everything seems to be fine.
Are there good reasons I should install the sacrificial liners again?
TIA

One of the main purposes of the liner is to stop debris from hitting/getting into the radiators. Lines could get hit, etc. The top of my liner has a gap at the top and when I pealed it back I saw a lot of rubber and little stones. I will try to fill some of the gap with Gorilla tape.

Hi Dave
Line-X is an interesting suggestion.
I wonder if it's practical to achieve the required surface prep inside the fender. In addition, some wiring, suspension bits, brake lines, etc would have to be protected from becoming coated with the liner.
In addition, portions of the liners, or maybe all of them, may provide some useful aero function that would be lost with only a coating.
On the other hand, maybe the Line-X can be used to repair worn liners with adjusted profiles in the liners, although I'm not sure how what substrate would work.
