Default Champion 1999 GT-3 clones

Anyone here know anything about the four GT-3 clones that Champion built in 1999 when GT-3's were not available in the US?

I understand 2 white and 2 silver sunroof delete cars were ordered and converted to some degree of GT-3 specs before delivery to customers, and I also understand that Porsche was not too happy about this.

One of the silver cars was for sale in AW recently, and I have seen one of the white ones for sale locally.

Thanks,

Steve

It is extremely unlikely they have a real GT3 motor or transmission making them much less valuable than a real GT3 of that vintage. Porsche's unhappiness would likely be in promoting them the cars as "GT3 clones".

The white car was featured in Excellence detailing all of the changes and costs. Check your 99 Excellence magazines.

Best,

That would be Excellence issue #92, page 62. Basically a 996 C2 with a modified/upgraded AeroKit, brakes, suspension, wheels and exhaust. Hardly enough to replicate a GT3. I believe KarlS has posted how much work he'd done to his 996 C2 and how far off it was from the real thing.

Thanks for your responses.

BTW I have a silver/black GT3 on order for May'ish delivery. Also, there is a new black/black GT3 for sale on the floor of G&W Motorwerkes in Virginia. Email me for phone number.
