Are those Carrera GT head lights?
I would think there would be debate more about the existence of this car than the car itself....and an old debate it is. Most purists won't want it, and the company will say it is necessary for survival.
I say whatever it takes (within reason) to get a full racing program back. I don't think my pride of ownership will diminish with this on the market.

This not the new 928.
The 928 was never a 4 door or 4 passenger car.
It was one of greatest GT cars ever made.
This is sedan pure and simple so don't call it a 928. I would rather see it than the Cayenne however.

I think from the front it looks mean, but the rear needs some more work. The 911 tail lights just don't belong there. The trunk needs to have a lower sill to make loading an unloading easier. The trunk lid now makes it look rear engined.

I agree w/ Cupcar 12 and bring back the 356...or maybe a super lightweight no frills 356 (or Boxster S) to compete with the Elise? If they can make make a good profit building sports cars (won't the 997 be enough?), I would rather see that, but it won't kill me to see a sedan....if it is really, really good and has some kind of new innovations.

Watt,
IT isn't horrible and like amny others here, I am more likely to buy the sedan than an SUV. I don't hate Porsche for the Cayenne, I think it was a smart business move. They needed to isolate themselves from the vagaries of the pure luxury goods market. With cars sales off 30 percent, the Cayenne is keeping the company healthy. On the other hand I hope we are not seeing signs of executive comp driving the company into a short term profit situation at the expense of the underlying qualities of the brand, Put all your money into SUVs and Sedans and pretty soon the Porsche name won't mean much. Of course by that time the execs who make the multi-million dollar bonuses will have moved on.
As to the low end "affordable Porsche", I am not so sure. Porsches have never been inexpensive cars. The 356 was certainly not a bargain compared to cars at the time. The 924 was sort of mid priced as was the 944 but in constant dollars not a whole lot cheaper than a Boxster were they? The 914 (except the 6) and the 924/944/968 were vilified by the purists as "non porsches" since they were part VW or Audi. High performance and cheap are hard to mate these days. The Lotus Elise is high performance but given the compromises on comfort and convenience it will appeal to a very niche market I think. We are spoiled by our luxuries?
I can see reactions to the Elise - whaddyamean no power top, windows locks, bose stereo, auto Ac etc. this is a 45 thousand dollar car! <grins>>

To be honest, anything is better than the Cayenne!
Porsche need to be very careful. Another foul up like the Cayenne could be terminal. If the result is a car to be proud of , then I suppose I would accept it. However, if it is a lemon, its difficult to see how Porsche will survive.

MADCAPLAUGHS, whose Cayenne are you calling a foul up anyway? I just drag raced a vette with my turbo cayenne with my two kids and my two dogs in the car, and did quite well. Try that in your europe only GT 3 RS that I am not at all jealous of. Have I reminded you lately how The USA saved your tiny little Island in WW2 the big one?
