Default clutch disk center section failure

Here’s a new one, I thought I broke a pressure plate at my last track day. Finally took it apart tonight to find the spring center section of the clutch had come apart. This was a 996 GT3 RS clutch not the newer revised 4.0 disk. Had only been in the car for 3 years and maybe 3-4K miles of “weekend only” driving.

Anyhow, thought I’d share. Not sure I’ve seen anyone experience this before

Sorry to hear that Andy !

That will raise the question of the optimal setup with the 964.102.239.31 EMS ? The RS4.0 clutch kit from Sachs ?

I wonder if anyone else has seen this failure mode?

I guess I'd never seen it here, and pressure plate failure is pretty well documented, but one of my 997 buddies said he broke the centers of his sprung clutches on his 3.8 RS and 4.0 RS. He didn't seem shocked at all.

That's what I'm currently planning to use (4.0 clutch).

Which Sachs parts are you planning to use ?

SACHS Performance 883082 999764 and SACHS Performance 881861 999856 ? These are the 996 RS parts I guess.
SACHS Performance 883082 001487 and SACHS Performance 881861 000029 ? These are the RS4.0 parts.
