Default OZ Alleggerita HLT Wheels

Does anyone have any experience with these wheels for the track? I would be running H7 245/315. They seem pretty inexpensive.

Lots of folks run them. No issues - except they are a fairly cheap option so I don't hammer them too hard on turtles, etc....

Yea, I was afraid of the durability. I don't want to have to replace them in a few years. I would rather spend more money and have something more reliable. I have had my Volk T37's over 10 years and no issues.

I did not have luck with them. Lucky Tirerack is great to deal with as OZ couldn't care less after the wheel leaves their hands... documented it here on RL.
IMHO, wait til Apex unveils their upcoming offerings..

You may want to consider changing the rim dimensions to 9" F and 11.5" R with those tire sizes.

I have them and am not kind to them on the track. Zero problems.

I ran them for 6 years on my GT3 with absolutely no issues. When I bought them in 2010, I polled a number of users here on Rennlist who were serious track junkies and the multiple reports on them were stellar. I would highly recommend them as a very lightweight, cost-effective, and attractive wheel. Multi-piece wheels are a double-edged sword. A good, single-piece wheel, like these, are a lot less trouble. and their price is low enough that if you damage one, you can throw it away and get a new one, likely for the cost of any *one* of the three pieces of a three-piece wheel.

Default Nor so much...

I had them on my 993 car. In a 2 year period bent at least 4 of them. Tire Rack replaced 1, possibly 2 at N/C. Then they replaced the next 2 at their cost. If you drive over the Gators, or if you experience pot holes on your roads, you may have a problem. Remember, these are "Close Outs", so if you need another one, it will be NLA.

Were I you, and I am soon to be in your situation needing another set of wheels for DE, I'd spend the money on your $65,000 +++ car, and get some decent three piece wheels.

Why? if you happen to bend an outer, or crack a barrel (I have done both), the parts can be replaced. I am old school with Fikse Mark V wheels.

There are many vendors selling 3 piece wheels, BBS, etc. Suggest you look at the Wheel Enhancement Web site http://www.wheelenhancement.com/ , no pricing there...you need to call David martin (310) 836-8908 for that, but you'll get an idea of what's available. I have purchased wheels from them over the years, competitive pricing and incredible service. David is the best....tell him that Martin sent you and request the "Feather Merchant's" discount.

Lack of a 9" front wheel has always been a non-starter for me with the OZ's.

That said, I was in a desperate need of a pair of 11" rears last year and picked up 2 rears, in different closeout colors, for almost nothing and just rattle can'd them black. I'm only using them with non-sticky rubber (100+ treadwear) to not risk anything with them.

Our cars are REALLY hard on rear wheels when driven hard. I've been through some of the best no matter what you're going to eventually have to time out rear wheels before they break. I think the OZ's time span to get there is going to be pretty short but they filled a need for me last year without issue so far.

Thanks for all the comments. The good news is I don't need to solve the problem until next spring so I have time to make a decision. On the other hand, I like to be done with open items because they tend to bother me. Also, I will confirm next week if my one Volk T37 wheel can be repaired.

As others have said, they are cheap & light. That's the good news. The bad news is that the rears will fatigue crack where the spokes meet the rim. It seems to happen in a cascade effect (it goes from no cracks to every spoke in the space of a couple of track outings). It's therefore very important to check them after every day. Mine took about 3 years (maybe 50 days?) of use with slicks to crack.

They are available in 9" ET43 which works absolutely fine BTW.

I've got 3 sets of them as they're one of the very few 18" wheels that fit over my 380mm front discs.

I just bought a closeout set to mount wet (street) tires. I am sure they will be fine for the purpose. But I will keep an eye on them for sure over time. I run E88's in the dry.

Have a set on the 993 as second wheels too. They're fine.

The finish is a bit 'fragile', but at $1,300 for a set in GT3 sizes, they're dirt cheap.

Cheers

Matt

I ran a set with NT-01's for about 15 days and 5k street and had no issues.
That said, I went to forged Finspeeds and e88's for strength and aesthetic. Nothing's certain but seeing some of the OZ crack reports reminded me saving a few bucks on wheels could end up very costly. If they're not used for a lot of track days with sticky tires seems like they'd be fine.

Seems like the wheels tend to crack and that would be another component that would need to be monitored.
