Default Tip - hard to find exhaust tip bolts

My passenger side exhaust tip bolt started to loosen which caused vibration and noise. Unable to tighten so I tried to remove. All rusted so i had to cut off.

Tried to find a low shoulder M10 x 20mm carriage bolt but this seemed to be impossible. Porsche wanted to sell be the exhaust tip with a bolt as the bolt is not sold separately.
I found a very similar bolt here, 3/8 x 0.75" low shoulder.

Regular head carriage bolt can work but square shoulder is to long so several washers required as spacers in order create pre-load.

The photo of your replacement looks like the square shoulder would not be long enough to go through both the pipe and tip.

thanks for the tip.
these bolts are also called "elevator bolts" - don't know why???, when sold at a local industrial hardware store.

McMaster-Carr might help:

Unfortunately, it is steel.

They also sell the Elevator Bolts:

I prefer stainless steel, but they didn't have metric. So the closest size is 3/8-16 X .75".

As far as the shoulder goes, if you want I would be happy to throw whatever you get in my lathe and trim it down to whatever size you want (no charge). Just private mail me.

A little story, my stock tips started rattling and coming apart on mine early in their life and I saw it an an excellent opportunity to upgrade to a new set of aftermarket stainless steel tips. They have held up far longer and better than the OEM tips and they look better, too.
