Default GT3/RS theft warning London

from the UK GT3 list:

"there is a Porsche stolen car ring operating in or about London..U.K., maybe
all of Europe. They stole 5 RS's and GT 3's within the last 48 hours in
London alone! "

Hi Watt,

Yes, I saw you had discovered the joys of the Titanic Porsche GT3 list. Welcome!

And yes, we have an incredible theft rate for Porsches in Europe. Things are not all so rosy in Europe. You should see what we are all paying for theft insurance. Not fun having your car taken from you at gunpoint.

Agreed Watt. Not much fun being an armed slave either. Speaking of which, how long before they bring the draft back do you think?

So why don't we share with our Yankee brothers just how they do it in Britain? I think it will make their skin crawl. It does mine. This story appeared on the Titanic list recently:

[Peter's] Silver Mk 1 GT3 nearly went last night.

He didn't sleep very well last night due to an upset stomach and in the early hours he was disturbed when a neighbour came down the lane where he lives. He went to check outside to find that his security lights had been dismantled. His wife's car, which was parked in front of his garage had been moved and they had broken into his garage. The would be thieves had DRILLED A 5 INCH DIAMETER hole in the bonnet to access the electric's. They had removed the door lock with a specialist tool and set to work to steal the car. They had even taped over the hole IN THE BONNET with silver tape.

A bike and a flower pot had been placed to block the front door!

Obviously he called the Police straightaway and they turned up with dog handlers. The thieves had previously made off across the fields behind Peters house. The dog handlers told Peter to stand out of the way as the dogs took off across the field with handlers in tow!

After half an hour they returned and although they got close the thieves had escaped in what they believe was a white escort. The dog handlers had been forced to leap out of the path of the oncoming vehicle.

This is somewhat related to this topic. I was at my Porsche Dealer this past weekend and they have had over 15 996's (pre-face lift) and over 20 Boxsters come in missing the headlights, the entire assembly. One of the body shop guys told me that they've become quite popular with the ricer crowd. Just an FYI and my $.10

Winter in NH is a bad time to have burglars come calling. The ground is too frozen for digging.

I find a Purdey, 4 Geese and 2 Hungry alsatians helps to alleviate the problem....
