Default Aerokit ii wing panel gap adjustment?

Hey all,

I've noticed some panel gap on my 996 mk2 aerokit wing and the rear quarters, it's a genuine wing but I can see some gaps.

On the right side the gap is decent, on the left side it sits about 3mm too high. Any ideas on how to adjust it?

I've checked the hinges they sit flush with the lid (although there is adjustment on the wing so the hinges can sit higher). The lower gap (wing yo bumper) also lines up with the tail lights.

Bit stuck! Only thing I can think of now if that the hinge I used was from a C4S because I wanted dual struts but it looks identical to my old hinge (apart from the additional ball pin) although maybe it sits a bit higher?

Pics aren't great ill try and get some more tomorrow.

All the aerokit pics I see the wing sits perfectly, not so much on mine at the moment.

Thanks!

How about some photo's of the inside of the lid where the hinges attach at that upper edge? Is the attachment point steel or Fiberglass? Are there shims between the lid and hinge/mounting point?

I'll go get some, attachment point is fibreglass to steel hinges.

Don't think there are any shims between the lid and mounting point but I can check just in case.

Not the greatest images but unfortunately it's dark here!

Took the additional strut off but it made no difference, also the hinge with the additional ball pin is the same part number for the Turbo, C4S and the GT3 so its most likely not that either.

Huh... I would try swapping your hinges out (IE: use your original hinges)... it seems that one of the new ones sits a little high...

I thought that maybe the left strut was pushing the lid up a bit turns out it wasn't.

I also noticed that the hinge I've got p/n 996 121 151 02 is used exclusively for a 996 turbo.

The plot thickens, I haven't had a chance to try my old hinge yet hoping it will let the lid sit a little lower.

Okay so finally got around to using an original hinge and it closed the panel gap! Right on dporto!

Too bad this turbo hinge is painted, ill have to get my original hinges re-done. Flaked a small patch of paint off the side of the wing too grrr

Another question, did aero kit ii's have double rear lid struts?
