Default Fuel Sender location ?

My 2002 996 cab has been sitting for several years and I need to drain the 1/8 tank of fuel (varnish I'd like to do that by accessing the tank through the port where the fuel sender is located, but I can not find said access port. Really appreciate specific direction on likely location. Seems as though I've looked flipping everywhere.

any other suggestions (or direction to existing threads) on what I should do before crossing my fingers and turning the key ? I've already changed the oil and with new battery, all systems look normal when I turn key to position 1

Well, I'm starting to feel a bit better about not being able to find it. 61 views and no one yet knows.

The fuel level sender is inside the fuel tank. Why do you need to access it? Just disconnect the fuel line in the engine compartment (upper left quick connect) and jump the fuel pump relay to pump the fuel out, then maybe add a gallon to the tank and flush that out too.

Thanks for that suggestion. Reason I asked was that I was reading here that the best way to drain the tank was to remove the fuel level sender where it is fastened through the tank and go into the tank there.

Super easy to see it on my 912, but no where to be found on my 996.

Roger that !

Even the Pelican Parts link showing the sender replacement describes emptying the tank first -- by disconnecting the line at the engine and jumping the relay.

So many, many thanks.
