996 Suspension Question
I broke a front strut on my 2001 996 coupe. Looking upgrading entire suspension system since I have to fix part of it anyways. Local shop is pushing bilstein pss10. Anyone have thoughts on these and/or other options?
I had H&R suspension on my BMW but this is a porsche....

FWIW, H & R makes various coilovers for the 996. IIRC, there was a recent thread about their Street Performance product.

Thanks for the note. I'm trying to build a great street/highway car. No track days planned.
As for roads, New England's best pot holed and cracked pavement, usually greater Boston, down to New Haven, CT and up to Portsmouth, NH.

For my track car, I got a Tarret package with JRZ RS Pros. Not cheap but it is the best. You can select a package here and add and remove items you want but I recommend talking with Ira and he can put a package together for the conditions you drive and the type of driver you are within a budget.

I personally like that they are one-way adjustable. Makes it easy to quickly find the perfect balance for every situation. With more adjustability options the amount of possibilities get quickly too complicated for the non-pro tracker in order to find the sweet spot.
Smoother ride as stock when dialed in less firm.

For the OP, coilovers are overkill. The stock suspension on these are very fun, even on the track. PSS10 are good road/track combo shocks but gain you nothing in a road only scenario. The Tarett JRZ package is the suspension package for the SP996 race cars. It's a great package on the track, but once again, not on the road. I would look at going back with stock or, if you want something a little firmer, the US M030 996 package. You can also just go with a new set of Koni struts and come out pretty well.
Hot, I would look at Feal for a good set of combo coilovers. Specifically because you can tell them what you are doing and they will custom build the spring rate and valving. This is huge! If you are looking to shave seconds on the track, the difference between a good and great shock is minimal compared to other places you can spend your money.

Guys I want to spend around 8k + or - on a kit. I want the underside of my car to be the best of the best, like jewelry when I'm looking at it. So please keep some advice and product feedback coming and showing and pictures of your set up. Thanks

This is what jewelry looks like when used as it's intended.
