Just finished wash/clay/wax + pics
After spending 5 minutes on the concourse forum I felt that both my washing methods and my supplies were completely inadequate. I also found a great youtube video outlining the proper method and technique to get do a really thorough paint cleaning and seal.
A quick trip to Amazon resulted in a fairly large order.
A few pictures of the car after the initial soak, rinse, wash, rinse...
and what was under the grit guard in the rinse bucket
Then on to clay bar followed by another soak, wash rinse. Followed by wax. I opted not to use the swirl remover or do any paint repair because outside of chips I didn't see much to worry about. My plan is to eventually come back and fix chips, do some light polishing and rewax later - but not anytime soon.
Also, before anyone calls it out - I haven't washed the wheels yet. The weather hasn't been cooperating so I had to move to the garage and figured I'd finish the paint before I start on wheels and tires.
Here's the end result. All together I'd guess it took about 5-6 hours.
Cheers
Charlie

I just did the same to mine, but I also used Griot's garage one step polish/sealant with their DA polisher. I needed to get rid of the PO's love marks. Turned out fantastic.

If you think the super clean guy is nuts, check out Money2536 in the 991 and GT3 forums (he's also morphed into the Obsessed Garage guy). That's a whole new level of insanity - and that's really saying something on Rennlist!
BTW, the car looks great!

That's something I would like to do if I get the energy. Nice job.
Funny, I watched the same video a few weeks ago and thought that this was something I could do.

Good work OP, a lot of us here are retired detailers. I actually owned a shop in Raleigh some years back.
Yeah obsessed garage is awesome. Anyone here who hasn't watched his you tubes or read his threads here on RL should take a look. Very informative and obsessed with car care. Guy has some nice cars too.

i'm one of those guys too.. But it's very time consuming taking care of 3 cars. A DA polisher is one of the better pieces to have, as it takes out a lot of elbow work--but it's still a lot of work.
I try to do maintenance cleaning with optimum no rinse every few days on the M and P car.

Problem is all cars get dirty at different rates! At least the motorcycles stay fairly clean 90% of the time.
