Keeping in mind this is for the C4S. On the C2 and C4, the exhaust is different.
1. I liberally applied PB Blaster to the carriage bolt and clamp area.
2. I proceeded to break each of the carriage bolts, in sequence.
3. I swore liberally at this point.
4. I jacked up the back of the car, and drilled out the rusted bolts, in sequence.
5. I took a long handled, flat blade screw driver and tried to pry open the clamps.
At this point the tips were still tight enough that they wouldn't come off, but loose enough to dangle unbecomingly off the tail pipes.
6. I struck the tips, repeatedly, from the underside of the car towards the rear of the car with the largest and heaviest mallet I owned until they came off, in sequence. I am glad the new ones fit, because there was no going back after that.
7. I took pictures of them, because this is the internet and without pictures, it didn't happen.
