Default Door Lock for 2002 996 Driver Side

Looks like the OEM part number is: 8N1837015C
Available here:
http://www.pelicanparts.com/cgi-bin/...ion=8N1837015C

However, I'm wondering if anyone can confirm this VW part is the same:
http://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo....382734&jsn=401

I'd prefer to get the VW branded one if possible since the brand new price is the same as a used 996 part from DC Auto:

Thanks

If thats the part number then you can order it from VW or sometimes Audi as well.

If it didnt fit it would have a different part number.

The Audi and VW part numbers should match the Porsche part number?

Porsche part numbers in my experience are as follows:

Series specific part number (with crossover for 986):
996 xxx xx xx + (colour code if applicable)

Generic Porsche part begins with:
999
or
000

VW, Audi Cross over part number begins with:
N
or
8

A more specific breakdowns of the Porsche part number is:

(series) (section) (internal code/actual part number) (modification/revision number)

Basically if it begins with an 8 or an N you can ask VW or Audi to order it for you, however this is just a rule of thumb for me.

I find part numbers fascinating

Thanks, it looks like this is a crossover part that is at least shared with an Audi TT so I'll see if I can find an option going that route.

I paid about half that for the driver side door latch but I can't find the link. If I find it I'll post it here.

Edit. It looks like they went up a significant amount in the last few years.
