My name is Roger. I have been checking out all the Porsche forums and research 996 and 997 for the last 6 month while searching for 1 for the last 3.
Finally bought a 2002 C2 on Friday! Everything is good but battery may be on its last breath, there is passenger window issue which may be related to the battery. Tires are 4/32 needs to be replaced soon.
Other than that, its in great shape and fantastic to drive!
2002 C2 Cab, 6 MT, 91000 Miles on the body and 5500 on the engine. Came with hard top. No nav but has 6 disc CD changer.
1 owner before me and has all service record. Engine replaced at 85500 by Porsche and has unlimited miles warranty until July 2018 by the Porsche dealership.
Did the PPI which identified the battery health and tires low. Rest of the car passed with flying color. I visited the bay and looked at the new engine, new AOS, new water pump with the new coolant tank. RMS and Clutch is done at the same time engine was replaced. It is still M96 but has the large (non-serviceable IMS).
Child booster seat installed in the back, ordered a bluetooth FM transmitter for phone pairing for now until I figure out which head unit I want. Also ordered Gummi Pfledge for rubber and 303 convertible cleaner and protectant. Bought Pelican's 101 book and Ctek battery tender with Cig plug attachment.
Next is tires and maybe a new battery instead of trying to Ctek revive it. Also need to find plug for the front license plate removal. Any suggestions? Should I change the oil on the new engine since it is past 5k miles. Do Porsche uses break in oil or like that?
Too much fun driving around over the weekend and only have this 1 pic. Next week will take family out and do some photo ops.

The window does not drop when using exterior door handle.
Interior door handle pull the window drop a little bit but it keeps want to get back up so it kind of rocks up and down unless I let go the handle and then it goes back up.
All indicate to micro switch to exterior handle bad and Lock microswitch is bad.
My central lock light is on and won't go away.
However, after charging the battery on tender over night. the central light went away and both window handle works. After I drove around eventually the central lock light came back and same problem on the window again. I charged it over night last night and morning commute all correct. Problem came back at lunch time when I went for a drive. So I want to maybe get a new battery before I order the microswitch and lock mechanism (which is $300+?)
These cars get flaky when the battery is suspect. If you think the battery is iffy, replace it before trying to diagnose other problems.
Yes, change the oil on a 6 month/5,000 mile schedule. Read up on the LN Engineering spin-on filter adapter; many people here swear by it (myself included).
