New 996 only getting better (is 991 worth it?)

Count me in the old school camp. Maybe because I am 66? The 996 is from a different era for sure and that is why I bought it. Smaller, lighter, nimbler and more communicative than most newer sports cars. And a bargain exotic, if the motor does not blow up, as the maintenance is pretty simple.
I even got rid of my 2015 BMW 328iX after less than ten thousand miles as it never spoke to me; fast and comfortable but totally disconnected from the road. Found a nice used Saab Aero and happy again.
