Is this worth it?
This will definitely need some work, but would this be a good deal or does it look not so good. It could have more problems since he raced it sounds like. Does it look like a good deal?

Judging from the pictures and limited information, you better be ready for a project. $6,000 is fair considering the condition, but there is no telling how much mechanical work will need to be done, but it's obvious that the cosmetic side of this car is some of the poorest I've seen. If it were me, I'd keep walking past this one unless you have at least $15,000 extra to bring this car back from the dead.

yeah that looks rough, some decent aftermarket parts in tge exhaust / intake but it looks like they beat the snot out of it so i doubt they did much maintenance

If the engine and transmission check out, it's definitely worth it. Those can be parted out for much more than 6k. A Tiptronic transmission rebuild is $6k by itself.

I say walk on by.
If you knew enough about these cars, you'd know this is roller money. Since you think this may be some kind of a deal, it suggests that you don't understand what that means or what it will cost (even if you are lucky on the motor/trans) to bring it back to shape.
So because you don't appear to know what you are getting in to, walk on by.
This isn't a car you do a PPI on or in fact even bother driving first. You buy it and trailer it home where you can then evaluate it. You buy this car knowing that 15-20k is your starting point to build a good reliable car.
Maybe you get lucky and it cleans up well with some paint and minor body work, but you have to go in planning to burn 3-4x the buy in price. Probably want to be in a position where when you are 20-25k in that you can just walk away from it too.
Maybe you get lucky and find a gem, but that's a tall gamble.

Good for a parts car.
I'd go look at it and take for test drive it where close to you.

I don't think I would accept $6,000 to haul that car away!
