Racing season interrupted this thread for a while, but it looks like I am at 2710lbs with all the weight reduction efforts. Lexan windows, roof, new bumper and wing all working well. Recently added a gurney flap to the back of the wing, which theoretically lets me run it flatter with the same downforce. After a failure of the Fabspeed X-pipe at the WGI Club Race (2 fractured welds, followed by terrible follow up and a 'repair' job that is unusable - that's a whole story in itself), I recently had KMC in Lawrence, MA make me a custom SS center exit exhaust using Magnaflow cans (see pix). It's loud but provides a bit of backpressure and it really improves the torque below 5K RPM. The car really squirts out of the turns now - keeping up with older Cup cars that are much quicker overall. I'll post video from the crazy first few laps at Mosport so you can see how quick!
I'm way late to this thread, but for anyone else doing this, I found it fairly easy to rosette weld the new roof on. In my case I had a used roof skin that I had drilled out all of the spot welds (fun, fun, fun), but the good news was this made for great locations to rosette weld the new roof on. It is pretty easy to do with a MIG welder, not a super high skill operation like TIG welding.
Nice lightweight build, and that exhaust is a work of art.
