Paid $200 something for my 997 shifter. Pretty clear improvement. It's been noted repeatedly by the community as being a nice, must-have upgrade if you want to improve the shift feel. That said, numeric & FF seem to be the next level up in reducing play & getting that notchy feel. Throws in my 997 shifter are perfect for my driving style though, no complaints here.
The shifter options seem great. The remaining problem is a diy, inexpensive solution to replacing cables when all that fails is the fittings at the gearbox end. They are great cables but are around $500 ! As these cars age, we will see more interest in this? Anyone with connections in the Rigging Industry could help? https://cantrellmotorsport.com/produ...hifter-cables/
And he explained why- very clearly in the thread on 986Forum. If you have a way to reduce the manufacturing and Purchasing cost, tell him. He is a real nice guy.
Peps here and on 986 voted with their pocket book for Ben's Shifter and concluded it was a better deal than the commercial $200+ shifters - many of which still use plastic bushings - the cause of some of the problems we are trying to fix.
I like to encourage Ben because he has some great product ideas that address issues that the commercial vendors have failed to address at an affordable price point.NAYYY.
