I have used this type of stud extractor successfully:


I have one of these as well, but the way the torque is applied (off-center from the stud you're removing) makes me worry that I might inadvertently twist off the remaining stud...

3/8 impact - then tried 1/2 inch on a cold motor - after that - I ran engine unit it reached 180 water temp - all others broke loose with 3/8 impact after that - I think I will try ARP bolts for the headers - they will not break

I think heating up the bolts (with the car) is the key. Had a look at the header bolts the other day they look small and easy to break eeeep.

Here in Melbourne there are mobile services that will come out and extract broken bolts so im sure there would be the same service available in the US! Would surly cost less than the kit (maybe in this scenario with only one bolt at least).

The best solution is stainless steel studs.Sold in sets on Fleabay -inexpensive,easy,permanent fix.
