Default Bad Gas Door Lock Actuator?

About 50% of the time I lock my car, I hear very loud, but very brief grinding noise. It sounds like it's coming from the gas door, and it remains unlocked when hearing the noise.

Has anyone dealt with fixing this?

Check the locking pin where it comes through the sheet metal has a plastic bushing around it. My experience with my Boxster is this bushing can come loose. I found it rolling around on the bottom of the gas cap access bay and not realzing what it was just put it in the ash tray. Months later found the gas cap access lid was not locking and somehow figured out the bushing was the culprit and pushed it back in the hole with the locking pin through the center of the bushing. The bushing is keyed so it needs to go back in the in the right position and it should snap into place although maybe with not a lot of snap. Anyhow, once I put the bushing back in place problem solved.

Mine does this too. I haven't really looked into how to fix it because I don't care.

Yes, I've had that issue as well. More of a buzzy noise from the solenoid that pushes the lock rod out. I found mine was not properly lining up. All I did was fiddle with it until it looked straight and it has worked for over a year now. BTW the buzzing every time I locked my car drove me nutz!

You gotta love finding odd parts in or around your car. it's good instinct to save them, they can often declare themselves. I thought my actuator rod was bent but on closer inspection I saw that it was loose. Clearly it simply needed to be centered with something but I didn't know what. I'll have a look for that bushing or purchase one.

I fixed this issue several years ago. 99762450500 is what you need, and it's under $2.

Macster was spot on.

I had a similar issue - my fuel door wouldn't lock. The bushing was missing when I bought the car, so I didn't know that there was something missing. I ordered a new one and that fixed it. A cheap and easy fix.

Oh yeah. I think mine may have fallen into the fender recess.

I would just love to walk out of Sunset with this bill.
