Default Whew!!.....relief!

With all the doom and gloom reading in here, anxiety has been high with my 996 purchase back in july. Did my first oil change today, and the filter didnt even have a hint of metal.
I felt confident with the previous owner, but you just never know

I see the logic here. You are were paranoid due to doom and gloom, and you make a thread saying how you were ****ting bricks about first oil change.

If you were really that worried, why'd you wait 'til now to change the oil and check the pan? $120 isn't much for peace of mind...

Wasnt planning on having it tested. I had a good feeling from the previous owner, an dthe oil had just been changed. It technically didnt need it, but i wanted to check for my own piece of mind.
With all the doom and gloom surrounding these cars, it makes it scary to enjoy it too much. I absolutely love to drive it, then i read here, its going to blow up any day

Why would it blow up any day? There's only 21 methods of catastrophic failure possible.

Take a break from the forum every once in a while. Otherwise, you'll be thinking about selling it more than enjoying it. Most forum posts are about issues with the car versus enjoyment of ownership unfortunately.

Thankfully there is no condom for driving a Porsche...you're either in or you're not. But when you're in it, enjoy the feeling. Soon you'll be in it all the time and you'll feel so good you won't have time to worry.

Enjoy it and don't worry, any car you buy could have a failure. Use everyone's advice here to be aware of potential problems but drive the car and have fun. I've had mine 6 months now and love every minute I'm driving it. Hell everything has a failure rate, I just got a recall notice on my pacemaker (failure rate under 1%). I drive around with the potential of my car or me blowing up. lol.
