Default Will the Bose play mp3 CD's?

Guys,

I'm supposed to take delivery of my '04 C2 on Friday. (Going to Stuttgart...need anything?)

I got the Bose option and was wondering what CD's to carry with me to listen to on the way back to Frankfurt. (No, I don't need music suggestions!)

Should I leave my mp3's home?

Thanks,

Rob

I believe it will play CD-R media, but not CD-RW.

You know what's really funny speaking of this, is that bekkers cdr-23 will. So given that they're the same if you were to flash it with that firmware I bet it would, Just a thought-

I have been meaning to test this in my 2003. I'll burn a cd filled with .mp3s and try it on my way home from work. My guess is that it won't work...

It won't however if you burn an audio CD with CD-TEXT the name of the CD and the Songs will be displayed on the PCM2 monitor. Pretty cool. Some audio cd's like Hotel Costes 6 come with CD-TEXT.

Default Slightly OT question

Just curious how you burn a CD with CD-Text. I burn CDs with MP3s all of the time, and have had no trouble playing them on the Becker head unit on the Bose system in my '03. But, it would be really cool if the track names scrolled like some of the content that radio stations broadcast.

I dunno?!? I have MP3 files that I burn to CD using Roxio's CD Creator 5 and they play on the CDR-23. If the format is changed to something other than MP3 in the process, maybe that explains it. All I know is that they work.

Here's what happens: When you create a new CD in Easy CD Creator, you have to tell the program if it's a Data CD or a Music CD. If you say it will be a Music CD, then when you drag and drop your .mp3 file into the 'project' Easy CD Creator automatically converts the .mp3 file to .wav format so the CD can be read by standard music CD players. As you might expect, the file gets a lot bigger in the process.

No it will not, I accidently burned a CD leaving the files in *.MP3 format. it does not play in the factory deck.

However, It will play CDr's burned with *WAV format.

Also, try to use the 74 min CDr's vs. 80 min CDr's With 80 min CDR's you'll run into problems once in a while( it'll play fine most of the time.)

No problems you just have to record 80 min disc at a slower speed.

A perfect audio disc should not be recorded at more than 4x speed. But you can get away with 8x speed. The problem with burning audio discs is that there is no error correction when burning CD Audio like with CD data. So when you record at let's say 52x speed you can hear a significant amount of subtle distortion.
