Default All red side markers

Many people change out their orange US spec side marker lights for clear or gray ones. On most colors this looks great, but I've never liked the way the clear or dark markers look on Guards Red cars. So I painted an extra set of orange ones (which are pretty easy to find cheap, everyone ditches theirs!) red, and I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. I used Testers TES1605PT Transparent Candy Red Enamel Paint, which I've used before on other projects to cover orange or clear lenses.

I found that a single coast covers the orange well enough to make it look pure red, but also doesn't change the color of the light shining through much, so it's still amber when it's on. I ordered some yellow LED replacement bulbs just in case it wasn't bright enough, but the stock bulbs actually look good, and legal.

Before, typical red 996 C4S:

Well, normally I would heartily applaud any attempt to add more red. But, I think your car would look better with clear side markers. If you look at your full driver side pic, I think clear sidemarkers would match well and would pull together your taillights and silver turbo twists.

Yeah, I can understand why people like the clear ones. I'm planning to have black or black-centered wheels soon, so I'm hoping it will look good with those. It's easy enough to change them out, I'll see how it looks with black and go from there.

Well, I don't think it looks bad by any means. If you like the solid red look, you should consider getting red bumperettes.

I was considering going with clears like these http://www.suncoastparts.com/product/9X6SIDES.html but the red looks nice.

I think matching the lens color with the paint is a nice idea - since the other options are clear, smoke, and orange, it's nice to see something different.

I might try nightshading my smoked markers and fiddle with some bulb choices to see if I can yield the correct color when they're on.

Those look great. Well done.

I'd like to see black markers (or dark smoke grey) to really contrast with the GR. Does that paint also come in a transparent black?

Looks nice, but maybe illegal

I remember something about red lights on the front of a vehicle are reserved for emergency vehicles only.

In any case, nice job

With a sufficiently bright LED bulb, I think you could pull off an adequately orange color when they're lit...

Red or blue colored lights on the front of a vehicle are illegal in Jawja (southern accent). The cops in my area are always ticketing the kids with the funky colored LED lights. Out of curiosity, I looked it up in our online Georgia Traffic Violations list and sure nuff, non-emergency cars can not display red or blue on the front or sides.

Best advice, make sure the amber shows through when lit. If not, add an amber bulb. Since you have a orange side marker, it probably comes with a clear bulb?

If you get pulled over, explain to the COP that it shines amber, but red color was customed engineered to match the car when not lit. ha!

Re; transparent black. It looks like they make that color, I haven't used it before. Worth a shot.

Re: legality. Whether they would be amber enough to e legal was my main concern. Based on how they look now, I'm pretty confident I wouldn't get pulled over for them. I'm more likely to get pulled over for no front plate (Thanks WA) I'm going to try LED yellow bulbs too to see how it looks, which I'm sure will be even more amber.

If you want a set of OEM sidemarkers and taillights (so non-LED) tinted with black paint, I have a set (2 sidemarkers and 2 taillights) that I would sell for $500 plus shipping. They are in excellent condition. They came on my car when I bought it last year and I replaced them with LEDs. Here is what they looked like in the car without the lights on:
