Exclamation Coilovers are going on today! Any words of wisdom

I'm going with ROW m030 specs for alignment baselines settings, just wanted to know if anyone out there has specific worries or problems they might wanna mention before I drop off my car

Thanks in advance!

I'll also post before and after PICS soon....!

row not agressive enough. go -.5f -1.4r and so some reasearch on where you are going to set the ride height. If you put the toe to 0 it will turn in better but be more of a handful on the freeway.

as sean wrote, row m030 spec is dumbed-down for advanced drivers/track use. much of the benefit of going with coilovers is the ability to lower the car enough to achieve at least -1 deg of front camber.

with row m030 ride height, the most neg front camber you can muster is -.75 --which works but is not optimum. imho, a good compromise between street/track is -1 deg front and -1.4 or so at the rear. the character of the 996s balance completely changes with this alignment--and for the better. gone is the 'push' through slow to med speed corners. you can still turn-in late and easily 'catch' the car under hard acceleration or backing out of the gas.

Question excellent information

but.....what about street tire LIFE......!

I've heard that -1 uses up tires pretty QUICK?

the rears wear faster than the fronts anyways--regardless of the alignment. the rears will still wear faster, even with -1 up front. relative to the slight loss of tire life for the front set, the improvement in handling more than offsets the incremental tire wear. think penny-wise pound-foolish here.

Question any suggestions on initial ride heights...

I was going to have them start from the top of the threaded bodies, and obviously adjust from there on....these are H&R's BTW....!

I agree with SPR, I'm running the same setup with my RoW 030. So far, my tires are wearing better then they did with the stock setup. I also have the toe set to almost 0. Some may not enjoy the toe setting to almost zero but it keeps my freeway driving a little more interesting (more like my previous '78 911SC).

Hey Senna,

Where did you get your H&R kit from? And why did you choose it over the Bilstein PSS9 kit? I'm going to do the same thing to mine next spring.

Thanks,
David

Exclamation H&R's

I got them locally in the bay area, thru a wholesaler! You can also get good deals from the TIRE RACK, they are one of the cheapest! As for WHY I didnt get the pss-9s ....I leased this car and didnt want to spend that much $$$ on the suspension, since I'll prolly only track it 3-4 times a year, before I hand it BACK to PNA.....

Yeah the reason I readily give out that alignment setup is that it wears perfectly on track or off. the fronts are even. The rears are pretty close, you could run less in the rear and have it probably more neutral, but I throttle steer the car through corners like a rear engine should be. Straight line braking, then look at entry, set up to apex apply throttle, took to exit, floor through apex. keep on it and look as far down as possible. then wipe out the passenger seat after done

I called the installer and we are going with -1 up front and -1.4 in the rear with "normal" toe settings! The good thing is that "toe" is an easy fix and camber is more time consuming! Needless to say, I cannot wait to compare the differences, not to mention the improved "looks" it will have. My biggest question is what ride heights most people are running on the street.....FWIW I am going to run 19" wheels as well

cool but when you do go over -.7 you do increase the wear unevenly a bit-
