Default Oil Reports

Hello,

Since I don't have money to replace IMSB right now, I have been pretty aggressive in checking oil filters and sending out oil samples to Blackstone. I feel like these reports are pretty good. The first report is pretty high, and I actually don't know how many miles were on that sample. I put down 3,900 but that was just a guess. Based on the iron ppm I am betting that oil was over 10k miles. I did top off with some Castrol oil which has titanium. The most recent sample was redline 0W40, that two prior oil samples were Mobil 1 0W40. Any comments on my report would be appreciated.

Those numbers look great. Redline is a great oil. Your car likes it. Go to Redline 5W40 as long as you don't drive in the winter.

Your oil consumption is within spec, but still high. May want to look into that? AOS??

Thanks LexVan, I just put in Motul 8100 x-cess 5W40. I am going to see if my oil consumption slows a little. Once winter hits, maybe I go with 0W40 again, Redline or Motul. I honestly don't know which one is better based on all the millions of opinions. I am just trying them all to see which one results in the best UOA and least amount of top off oil needed.

I did do the AOS test where you remove the oil filler cap while engine idles. I get just a slight amount of suction. However, my left tail pipe does get black sooner than the right tip. I hope that isn't too serious of an issue.

Your numbers look solid. I can see why you are not worried about going 10k miles.

I have Motul 8100 X-Cess 5W40 in the car now and I have 10 more quarts. I will do 8000 miles on each of those and see how I am doing. I can get Motul off Amazon for $35 per 5 liter jug. Redline is $51.95 for 4 quart jug. Motul is 53% of the cost of Redline. Of course I can get Mobil 1 for $22.58 for 5 quarts. So Mobil 1 is 34% the cost of Redline. I don't mind paying for Redline if I am convinced it's going to make any difference in a daily driver.
