Anyone have any tips for getting the rear tail lights aligned? (2004 C2).
I know to move around the black plastic holders that are held in place by 2 torx screws.
The manual makes mention of an alignment tool that is moulded onto new holders that then gets broken off, I haven't been able to find an images of this.
The factory manual also mentions a 3mm gap but is that above the light or below or both?
From images i've seen the light starts flush to the bumper and as it goes around to join the rear lid a gap starts to build?
Should have followed the saying "if it ain't broke don't fix it" but I tried to re-align them, broke a holder and made them worse! gah
I can completely understand refocusing the front headlights, but I don't think I've had a case where the rears needed readjustment. Is there something about your that doesn't look right or are you concerned about the brake light illumination? Maybe post some pictures?
My guess is that his lights aren't square to the opening (uneven gaps) which makes me first suspect that the "pointy" end wasn't inserted properly. Guess we'll wait for more info.
To me the gap looks a little big? Maybe just a minute adjustment.
Anyway couldn't really find any documentation on it even if mine are okay.
Actually that's the alignment before I messed with them. They look worse now... Haha
Well let this be a lesson! Don't mess with them next time!!! FWIW, if you "messed them up", you should be able to just reverse your process to get them back how they were. Most of these types of thing are just kind of fiddly trial and error type of things... Good Luck
I couldn't find any gap checkers so I used my vernier callipers instead. Not the best to use but got the job done. Have to wait on the new bracket to arrive from Germany ugh.
