electric power steering
hi. there are a few folks selling electric power steering pumps for big $ in the classified section, so i thought that i would get this info out (tried to mention it in the for sale post - a big no-no apparently as i was immediately deleted).
SO, the pump that porsche motorsports uses for electric power steering is a TRW unit and the SAME pump that vauxhall uses in the astra and zafira. i quick trip to the ebay uk site (ebay.co.uk) shows them going for all of 29 gbp (probably under $50 usd shipped). for example:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VAUXHALL-A...cAAOSwaB5XmHEP
compare the pump in that listing to the $500 pumps being sold here and advise if you can find a difference. also realise that the $500 units are NOT necessarily porsche motorsport unless specifically stated, so that additional $450 isn't even buying you bragging rights.
if interested i can tell you the colour scheme for wiring (or search, there is info on 986forum) and what is needed to connect to an oem rack.

Uh, I pretty sure my pump is mechanical driven and they are about $80 new, or less for used.
