Default Help, can't get into car!

Ok, i parked her up (1999 C2) last wednesday and locked up as usual. Today I went to drive to a friends house and went to unlock the car, but nothing happened. I thought the battery might have gone in the alarm fob so I got the spare keys, but they dont work either. I've tried it from various angles, but nothing. The alarm appears to be working as the LED on the dash is flashing so I dont want to unlock the car manually as the alarm may go off.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks

Unlock the car manually, I think after 5 days the Key Fob stops working and when you unlock manually it resets it.

unlock using the key and insert the key in the ignition promptly. If you don't insert the key the alarm will be triggered.

I think its about a 30 second delay, I remember after I hadn't used the car for over 5 days, I unlocked it with the key, then opened the trunk and was taking my time and then sat in the car and the alarm went off...scared the sh*t out of me...haven't done it since

I usually unlock the car with the key. Close the door and lock the car with the remote, and then unlock the car. This re-enables the alarm and then disables it. Since I started doing that the alarm hasn't gone off on me, and it saves me having to jump in the car and turn it on immediately if I have stuff to load or if I'm not ready to leave yet.

Spot on. 996s and boxsters are pre-programmed to deadlock after 5 days without use. Have to go through this pretty much every week with on or other of the cars. Unlock the drivers door manually with the key (no need to open the door) then the keyfob will be reactivated. Then use the keyfob to turn the alarm off or on as normal.

The anti-hijack locking can be reprogrammed but I don't think you can change the deadlock settings?

What year was the anti-hijacking locking feature built into the car?

Not too sure, it's been on each of the post 02 cars we've had. Someone who has a 99 /00 car would know if it was spec before then.
