5CH3LL beat me to it. Swap the carrier or drive the silver car. I absolutely wouldn't drive the failing bearing on the track (imagine the heat that would generate as the bearing fails). I also wouldn't risk missing the track day due to unnecessary wrenching while under a time constraint.

What good is having 2 996's if you can't share parts in a pinch?

I do not think you'd need to worry about your alignment.

You're going to need a long-*** breaker bar to get that axle nut off.

Slakker, if you apply the handbrake a little bit when driving, does that stop the noise?

No luck. Doesn't seem to effect it.

It looks like it's over an inch so I should be OK (famous last words). I have a "big" socket set I use on the tractor and a 6' piece of pipe that fits on the end as a breaker.

Wheel bearing is definitely loose with lots of play. Salvage carrier getting installed, new bearing getting ordered.

Was there play in the bearing with the axle nut tightened/wheel on?

Didn't test it. You can hold on to the wheel carrier and move the plate side to side though.
