I have the same silver top on mine but like the black one as well. I say do what you prefer. Our canvas tops are black anyway and I see nothing wrong with using a black hard top. During the summer I winch my hard top up to the ceiling. I have banged my head on it a couple of times and still haven't knocked any sense into my brain.

Hah! Yeah I googled "silver 996 hardtop" and one of the first results was this image.

Or, maybe I really am as computer savvy as David Lightman in Wargames...

I've got the opposite combination. Silver top and black cab. I was thinking about wrapping it black. Trade?

This looks good

This not so much

Not to thread jack but what 997 is this with the removable top?! It's not a targa. Is it a one off?

It's an aftermarket kit.

It's a targa hardtop system manufactured by GTN Automotive. It's insanely expensive. Probably cheaper to sell your current cabriolet and buy a coupe. http://www.realtarga.com/gtn/sites/home_e.html

I have a 2004 Arctic silver cab that I traded the AS silver hard top to a guy that was going to paint his black hardtop AS. I like the look. One area that the black helps camouflage is the space between the rear of the top and body. With the silver one you see the black line. The black top hides it.
