Default Possible to use 997 / 997 GT3 transmission mount in a 996?

I understand some 996 TT owners use 997 mounts, and it seems they can use 997 GT3 mounts as well. For instance "The old style 996 mount with the large voids is no longer made. All the cars get the latest 997 trans mount which is used on everything up though the 4.0RS, part number 99737503303. It is stiffer with more rubber, less voids." And the 997 mounts get good reviews for the mix of performance and NVH.

So it sounds like all Mezger engined cars can use the same transmission mounts. It struck me as possible we could use them on our cars as well. The transmission mounts sit far from the engine, so having a different engine needn't mean different mounts. And from pictures I've seen in various threads, I didn't notice any difference in that end of the transmission and how it fits in the car.

Anyone know if this would work?

The 997 GT/Turbo trans mount will only fit the following 996 generation models:
GT2
GT3
Turbo
996.2 Carrera Tiptronic

The 996.1 Carrera (manual and tip) and 996.2 Carrera (manual) transmissions use a design whereby a single bushing is pressed into the bell housing:

FWIW what I found was that there is some argument on whether to go aftermarket Tiptronic mount because you're risking too much noise/vibration, especially if you've hardened the engine mounts.

The 996 part number is very expensive and gives you more than you need; instead, get the 987 Boxster *engine* mount, and it fits!

Part # 987-375-023-05, and thanks to @Function-First for recommending it in the first place.

So the 987 boxer [I]engine[I] mount works for the 996 C1 tiptronic and C2 tiptronic? Or also for the 996 C1 and C2 with a manual transmission?

I can only comment on the Tiptronic one. Not sure about the manual one.
