"What are those 4 big, round, black things my car sits on?"
JK.
I remember way back when. I too was young and dumb and asked stoopid questions. Now that I'm older and on my second Porsche, I still ask stoopid questions.
And don't give the OP a hard time about not using "Search". I bet no one has ever asked those questions before...
OP: BTW your coolant level appears to be just below the minimum line. Depending on the temperature at time of pic you might need to add fluid. Coolant appears greenish-blue. Be careful adding coolant as mixing types can cause problems. Distilled water can be used to top off. P.S. Do NOT open this cap if engine is hot!!!!

Agreed! I personally screwed this up before. Had a SAAB 9-3 and poured conventional cheapo green coolant in with the pink Dex-cool. That was NOT a pretty moment when I found out the two types could adversely react with each other chemically.
Hi, I am new to the forum and am also a first time Porsche owner. As I cannot start a new thread, I thought I would post in a related forum. I have an old crispy rubber seal around the female section of my rear window latch trim
on my 996 targa. I would very much appreciate it if someone would be kind enough to provide me with the part number as I would like to replace it. My usual mechanic doesn't seem to be able to locate the part number if this rubber piece. And help or advice (maybe part no. diagrams) would be great! Thank you all very much in advance.

Do I just add distilled water right into the reservoir with the min/max lines?
Rock: Water tank is larger than it appears. Just add slowly and watch until to top line. As Walter reminds only when engine is cold. Removing cap when hot throws fluid everywhere and can burn skin horribly.
Thanks to all who helped with my simplistic questions. I have read most of the manual and am getting 101 Projects for your 996. Happy Fathers day to all the Dads out there as well
