Default Sloppy Shifter

I just purchased a 2001 996 and the shifter is real sloppy side to side. After looking at it, it's obvious the plastic bushings are worn out. I have looked online but have been unable to find replacement bushings. Does anyone know where I can get new ones? Picture attached

Function First bearing replacement kit won't help?

This one? I had to look it up as I hadn't heard of it until now. Thanks! That does look really nice, but it is quite pricey. Really all I need are the plastic bushings, they are worn out

Fitted the Function First shifter to mine pretty much as soon as I brought it home - sloppy shifter was the one thing I'd identified as needing fixed straight away. Very pleased with the results. Easy install too - given the amount of my time it didn't take, I think the price is pretty reasonable.

I agree they are pricey. Don't know of any stock bearings. But you could always try one of the Chinese short shift kits on eBay. Or even a Schnell kit from Pelican.

Ideally, you would find a 997 shifter pretty cheap. They feel much better.

997 shifter is solid and improves feedback, reduces play substantially. I'd check eBay for a guy with a 997 that upgraded to a GT3 shifter or something similar. Or DIY if you are capable + inclined.

Google "Phenix Engineering" ... last I knew, they made billet bushings for 996/997 shifters.

FWIW, my new C2 has a B&M SSK in it and it feels really good. Definitely better than my Numeric for Daily Driving but not as good as it for the track.

I like the concept of the FF bushings but have no idea why they cost so much.
