Default Booster seat update - 2016 edition

Finally its time to move my daughter to booster seat as her convertible seat is getting too small and tight. There are couple booster seats that fit our back seat (especially for cabriolet) from previous car seat rennlist discussion. Most of the booster seats that fit our car has been discontinued (Britax, Recaro vivo, graco, etc).

Most new car seats come with non removable cup holders which I don't care. Most lower base are so wide. Brought the 996 to the store to try fit the booster seats and here are the summary of my findings:
1. Britax SGL 1.1: base is 22" wide, way too wide for our back seat.
2. Recaro performance booster: too wide due to non detachable cup holders base.
3. Graco: fit ok but padding is thin, my daughter says she is uncomfortable.
4. Chicco booster: barely fits with cupholder removed. 3 layers padding with zipper removable cover for easy wash.

I bought the chicco and my daughter seems pretty happy with it. Wife also has enough leg room.

I use Evenflo big kid seat with the integrated cup holders, that do not add to the width of the base. This seat is a snug fit, the back rubs a bit on the "tonneau" (where the roll over bars reside in my cab). I added a bit of memory foam to the seat bottom.

Laphan- what model convertible car seat were you using? Searching for one that fits well in a cab. Also did you install a tether anchor? Did you do rear facing or front facing? Thanks

For convertible seat, I was using evenflo titan. I did not use the tether anchor. Used seat belt (locked). She was sitting front facing (she was 3).
I pulled the lower cushion and it fit snug in cab 996.

I just bit the bullet and bought 2 Porsche Junior Plus seats for my 2003 cab. I pick them up on Saturday. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they fit.....

This is a Harmony Dreamtime booster seat. Was well rated by IIHS when it came out a few years ago. Fits quite nicely in back of a 996 coupe anyway. I have two so I can pick my daughter and a friend up from school. They love it.

I just purchased a 2016 Evenflo big kid for my '03 coupe. I pulled the bottom seat cushion (to keep from damaging it) and tried to fit the big kid booster. It doesn't fit very well and sort of floats because the back of the base is too wide to go very deep into the seat 'pocket'. I measured the base width at the back of the booster at ~ 15 1/2". I'd like something that is a few inches narrower.
I could make it work by putting something under the seat (towel or pool noodle), but first I'm going to stop by Walmart and check out the dimensions on the dream time seat mentioned above.
Will report back as to what I end up with.

Hello again. I ended up getting the Maxi Cosi Rodi. A bit spendy, but it fits much better. Still not as snug as I like, so I put par of a pool noodle under the seat to fill in the seat 'pocket'. Overall, I'm quite happy with it (and so is my daughter).

After trying a dozen diff seats (thanks Amazon prime) I run two is these in the back for my two. Best fit, ironically the cheapest ($40 a piece). It wasn't a money issue for me, I have $300 seats in our other cars.

I recently got the deactivation bar set up in the front as it's just a tad too tight for my son behind me. Doing a 1,500 mile road trip me, the 5 yo, and the 3 yo next week. Putting one in the front so I can actually drive.

Greetings from November 2017. I've had difficulty finding any of the seats listed; the life cycle on car seats is ephemeral at best. However, Walmart, Fred Meyer, Target, Amazon, whoever currently sells a booster seat from Cosco that fits *great* in the back seat of a 996. I got mine for $15 so you have very little to lose.

hank you!! I’ve been searching for something like this. I’m guessing a 997 would be fine too (similar rear seat dime skins).

Bonus!

I’ve discovered two more that work!!

Cosco Rise backless booster (similar to the topside, but sleeker and cheaper and easier to buckle)
https://www.walmart.com/ip/Cosco-Ris...Onyx/527347571

Cosco Scenera Next Rear/Front convertible with five point harness:
https://www.walmart.com/ip/Cosco-Sce...-Otto/41126739

I confirmed that they both fit - although you’ll need the top tether to make the Scenera work properly with the seat belt setup, as it’s a true car seat with a back. It also has latch, so if you have a 991 it’s probavly easier.

Also they both come in black - a perfect match for the black leather interior!

Appreciate the info and pre-check! Just ordered the Harmony dreamtime and cosco backless. Love Walmart's free shipping with no subscription fee!
