Default 996 Wheel fitment question

Can I put 997 Carrera III rims on a 1999 996?
The tires are:
backs 265/35/18
fronts 235/40/18
Will I need any spacers?

Thank you
D

18 in.
Set of Porsche OEM 997 Carrera III 18" rims
Front 8" - 235/40/18 ET57
Rear 10" - 265/35/18 ET58
Sizing is standard Porsche 5 x 130 mm bolt pattern
Continental tires on front and back, with about 10 000 km on front tires, still in excellent condition. Back tires are brand new.
Includes OEM Porsche centre caps (no knockoffs)

It should fit fine. OEM is et50 up front and et65 in the rear. So the fronts will be set in 7mm more than normal (which can be corrected with a spacer) and the rears will be set out 7mm further.

There are a ton of tires that come through here on the classifieds so might just wait out the exact set you are looking for.

Thank you. I presently have these rims with these tires on them. I think the 235s should be okay for now, correct?
So I should use 7mm spacers on the front?

235's are fine. You can go up to 245's with the right wheels. As far as the spacer, just mount the wheels and see how they look. If you want to move them out, closer to flush with the fender, then you can measure and buy the right spacers. The 235's may fill some of the gap already though.

Highly recommend the spacers for the fronts. I have 997 Carrera iii rims and they are too far in the guards. I'm taking them off for standard 996 Carrera 5 spokes.

You can also go up to a 285 on the rear. That's what the mk2 996 has as standard

dan_189 What size spacers would you recommend? When you say "too far in the guards" do you mean that they could rub?

I think 7mm would be fine although i'm not entirly sure. The previous owner put the 997 rims on my car without spacers and they sit too far in the guards.

They don't rub anything on full lock although there is also the possibility that my wheels hit the top of the spring perch. I'm going back to standard 996 Carrera 5 spoke

Here is an example of how the front and rear sit, notice on the front how far in the wheels sit from the guards

I recently got the same exact set for my 996 and I will be using 5mm spacers in the front. The rears fit fine with no rubbing on the fender lips.
