Strange sound with acceleration

So here's where I am so far. My local PCA has recommended a Porsche Savant so I have an appointment Friday.
However, due to the many people betting on the snow tires (and the fact I've been meaning to replace them since before the stupid shifter issue) I've ordered some new tires and should have them put on tomorrow.
What are the OEM tire sizes by the way? TireRack specified 225s on the front and 285s in the back, but the tire shop pulled up in their computer 225s in the front with 265s in the rear for the 18s.
I know there is wiggle room but I just wanted to stick to OEM.

Hey KK,
My Porsche book states that 285/35/18 are correct OEM rear size for the MkII 996 narrow body. The OEM size for the MkI narrow body was 265/35/18 for the rear. Slakker's car is a MkI which makes sense that he'd use 265.
Cheers

Well I'm happy to report great news! After talking with my local PCA an Indy about 20 something minutes from me was recommended. This guy was drscribed as a Porsche savant.
I talked with him about a week or so ago and he said he wouldn't want to chase any strange sounds on the car until I had proper rubber on them. So I got some brand new summer tires and found the sound still there if not louder.
I took the car to him yesterday and he found an aluminum oil cooler line was damaged (most likely during Dennis' "repair" of my transmission. He fixed the line and the sound is gone. He also found that the front sway bar links were bad and is replacing them as well.
I should be picking the car up tomorrow after work. I can't wait to be able to enjoy my car finally!

Can you share more information on why the hard line was causing the whirring sound you described? Was it contacting a moving part, or...?
Congrats on having a SOLID resource for future troubleshooting/diagnosis. Knowing you have someone available who won't just shrug and start throwing parts at your car is a tremendous asset.

Not that it matters, but in case someone sees this in the future - a minute or two, some amount of time less than it would normally take the car to heat up and for the thermostat to start opening to let coolant circulate to the radiators.

That's great news! Glad to hear you have someone that you can trust to do the right job and not completely disassemble the engine and blame it on a non-related part.
Are you going to reconstruct your original transmission that Dennis the Menace destroyed while he was playing?
