Default Selling my 99' cab... questions before I list it

Selling my 99' cab, 6 spd, 39k miles, silver ext and metropol blue interior. Right now I have the hard top on it and lobster fork wheels. Do you think I should put the stock 17" twists back on (they have brand new tires on them) and then sell the lobsters separate? The car looks so much better with the lobsters on (the stance is better with the much wider tires) I'm thinking it might make it sell better but not sure. Also considering selling the hard top separate. I figure the top is worth $500 but I might have to sit on it for awhile... same deal with the wheels. The front tires are new Hankook V12's and the rears are PS2's that need to be replaced. I figure the wheels/tires are worth around $600 or so.

I was thinking about listing it at $22k... seems that's pretty close to the prices around here (they're all over the place it seems... but $22k seems fair to me for a low mileage 99').

What do you think?

I think if you are willing to hold on to it for awhile then 22k is a good staring place. Even though the '99 is arguably the best 996, it's perception is pretty much the opposite. I think getting 20k would be doing pretty good and 18k is probably the low side.

The upside is that if it doesn't sell for awhile, it's more time for you to reconsider and come back to the NA (light) side.

As for the forks and top, I would advertise both ways with the better deal being if you don't have to mess with selling them separately.

Yeah SW FL is a strange place when it comes to sports cars and Jeeps for some reason... must be the sun. Cabs normally bring less money in the rest of the country but around here the bring equal or more it seems. I think I'll list it for $22k with a choice of wheels and see what happens.

LOL, SW FL probably is the best place in the country to have it for sale. Or at least in the conus. In Honolulu it would probably bring more.

I agree. Test the market at 22k and offer the extra wheels and tires, and hard top as extras. Might also use the 'extras' to entice the buyer at 22k. With your mileage I'd say you are priced right.GLWS

Sell it with the hard top and the OEM 17's. Seems when people are looking at cars (me included) stock is worth more than mods. Not really sure why.

Cabs bring $5000 more than the coupes. 99 is the safest bet of the 996 models. With a low mileage car as yours. Don't go below $25000 for your starter with hard top and lobster fork wheels. I would buy it at $23000 if I was in the market but not. I prefer the cab to coupe. Best of both worlds.

I think the price is right but if I were making an offer I would definitely want all of the extras included
The new wheels will attract a lot more buyers if both sets are included

I do not know about not including the hardtop with the sale for a couple of reasons. First it will suck up space in your garage and you might get tired of banging into it. Second, unless you bought the top separate from the car a perspective buyer could run the VIN and see that it originally came with the car. You might be more motivated to get stuff listed than I am though as far as parts from past cars but that is my $0.02.

Agree with craig ^ on the hardtop.

As for the wheels, to be honest, I have never cared for the lobster forks on a 996 (or any car for that matter, but especially not the 996). Plus, you say that the rears on the lobster forks need to be replaced, but the stock wheels have brand new tires all around. So, I'd definitely put the stock wheels with new tires on the car. Then list the lobster forks for sale separately AND in the ad for the car. Advertise the lobster forks separately at one price and then note in the ad that they are available at half price if you buy the car.

For some reason, people put way too much faith in the condition of the tires and the driver's seat when evaluating used cars. So, the new rubber will definitely help. Speaking of, if the driver's seat left bolster looks worn, I'd get it dyed if I were you.

Oh, one last thing, offer it for sale to Hurdi for $21,000. That way, Hurdi gets one hell of a deal (since it's worth $25,000 to him) and he can flip it and make some extra money arbitraging off the red hot cabriolet market.
