Satin platinum sounds like a strip bar.

The wheels are nice also - looks like a possible good match for black - shiny without being SHINY.

Or we could have named them "Flawless" which would have been more like the name of a girl who works there...

We shall see. We shall see

I've been after her for years to replace those peeling glossy things (I was never really a fan of them to begin with, but I am afraid it will look funny without them after all these years) and these rose to the level of her not finding it too objectionable if they appeared on the car.

So the baby is finally getting a new pair of shoes (just for you Schnelly )

Thanks to Eli for the help getting it done

FWIW, while it might not be an exciting name, "Satin Platinum" sounds fine. It's descriptive of the product: platinum with a satin finish.

If you're looking for another name, you might want to give some thought to:

- Badassinum;
- Platisatin (check with your doctor before taking as frequent use may cause obesity in pregnant women, pink elephants (if taken with hallucinogens), infertility in post menopausal patients, and death;
- Thankfully Not Black or Silver; or
- Electric Boogaloo (might want to do a trademark check on this one first)

Great looking wheels! Oh, and no need to credit me if you use any of the names I've suggested.

Dunno. Maybe I'll go with Bad *** Raptor

Why do wheels and tires have to be so damn confusing? I thought what we had now were 7.5x18 and 9x18, but the tire specs are 225/40 and 265/35 which seems to indicate they are 8 and 10" respectively. Near as I can tell those tires should fit the new wheels though so that will save me about $1k for new PS2s and I can't complain about that.

The wheel width and tire section width don't have to be the same. I'm not sure you'd want to mount a tire with an 7.5" section width on a wheel that's 9" wide but there is a degree of flexibility (it being rubber and all) that you can get away with when it comes to mounting different width tires. You might want to maximize the patch of tire that's on the ground but if you go too far, your tires will fall off. Too narrow and they'll stretch and eventually destroy your rim.

FWIW, I'm sorry to hear about your condition with the 265/35s -- there might be a cure for that. I thought non-wide bodies wore 285/30s in the rear. As for PS2s, I was tempted by the dark side and opted for Sumis. I have no regrets...especially at less than 1/2 the price.

Contrary to what TireRack says, the car came with Contisports which were utter crap (terrible ride and wear pattern). Since then we've had PS2s on it and never had a complaint other than the price. I've had too much trouble changing tires on other cars that I'm just sticking with what works for us regardless of the price.

When/If they ever kill off the PS2 line, then I'll **** and moan and find a new tire to use
