I have a 2001 C2 which is for sale. It has 120,000 km on the chassis but only 20,000 km on the best rebuilt motor you can get, a 3.6L Flat Six Innovations (Jake Raby) motor with 340 HP (40 more than stock). You were saying you want to do a rebuild. This motor would cost you around $23K US ($30 K CDN) including the cost of shipping the car down to Georgia. My car has 1997 GT3 brakes and suspension, a Mark 1 aerokit, and a brand new maxspeed exhaust including X cats and is in excellent condition. I will sell it for $35K and have complete maintenance history.

I'd rather find a MK2 low mileage roller then start shopping for an engine. With those miles you'll be looking at a rebuild at sometime in the near future then you'll just have a ton of $$ invested in a high mileage Mk1 that likely will need lots of other attention as well.

+996. If I were looking to buy today, this car would have been a VERY easy first choice solely because of the FSI engine......and yellow is not even my color.
