Default Warm the Oil?

Hi all.
I am about to drain the oil to change the sump pan, baffle and install a Guardian chip detector. The car is up on jack stands with no wheels. It is a C4. What do ya'll think of starting it up and letting run a bit to warm the oil before draining? Will it hurt the CV joints (universals?)?
I'd like to hear your thoughts.

pointless if you are replacing the sump pan anyway.
