Default Mounting double din head unit

Hi,

I am looking at mounting a double din stereo where the air conditioning and car stereo live.

My question is how easy is it to relocate the airconditioning controls, and how easy is it to mount a double din unit in there?

Any help would be much appreciated.

yeah it is easy you just get the other trim ring and mount the ac in the lower console. get the carbon fiber nav center for a double din mount to make it clean.

No problem moving the a/c display to the slot just above the batwing. We do this when we do a cupholderectomy. You need a pair of brackets and the trim for the display. The cables to the back of the display are more than long enough. Jeff

Thanks guys for the heads up.

SPR, can you elaborate on the nav center. From the pictures I've seen it doesn't look like I need to fit anything else.

This is the part for a PCM car - it does not have a cross-bar.

I wanted to do the same thing, I wanted to move my monitor to the upper center console position, and move the radio and AC unit to the bottom two positions. Is it possible to move the radio as well, and if so how difficult?
Thanks in Advance!

Tool Pants, I'm looking to replace the cassette holder in a '99 Coupe with anyhting other than a cassette holder...preferably another storage compartment. Where might I find this other than at the P-dealer. Thanks, Mike.

I would give Sunset Posche a call with the part number. Their prices are well below those of the dealer....

Thanks!
I actually am currently having the monitor frame and surround painted in AS to match the rest of the car. I will have to re-install it and would like to have the rear-view monitor moved up for an easier viewing angle if possible....

If this is what you want to do then you need to contact Maverick on the UK Boxster board - but I think he is long gone. Jeff

SPR, is there any chance that you could measure the aperature on the picture you sent me. You see, I don't actually have my 996 yet, but I am making preparations for when I pick it up.
