Thumbs down Buffalo New Yorks Weather

I wish the area and anyone stuck in it the very best. And I don't mean that in an arogant way. I have been living the last 2 years here for a job and this past weeks weather just did us in.

I am done with it, permanantly. I have NEVER seen such **** weather year round anywhere in the world and I DO mean world as I travel it often.

God for bid the sun should shine... The wind should stop blowing gale force... And the temperature warm up here.

Last night we got 3" of F%@##ing snow!!! What is that about?

I cannot for the life of me see what keeps people here... Wait a minute there is nobody here..silly me.

Anyway, we leave next month and I'm counting the milliseconds.

I hear you. I did my undergraduate work in Buffalo. My first year we got 200 inches of snow. One night it snowed 2 feet...the next night 2 feet more. Another night it got to 100 degrees below zero with the wind chill! At one point, they "closed down" the city. It was illegal to drive unless you were a doctor, nurse, or some other emergency services worker. And talk about windy. My last year, it snowed during the second semester final exams in May! I swore I would never live in that kind of climate again. So where do I move to for my first job out of grad school? Minneapolis, where that winter we had something like 25 days in a row where the high temperature for the day was below zero. "Folks, the high for today will be negative 8."

Can't complain now--the SF bay area weather is boringly nice...

Yeah Poursha, You know everywhere has it's pros and cons but this is a complete joke here. I'll take expensive car registrations all day long versus this ****. I have a great friend in SF and I was out there a couple months ago for a trade show and have not been that happy in 2 years. Was in Newport Beach

What amazes me is that folks buy Porsches up here, I only just got mine because I knew the end was near and it would never see this crap. True a handful drive them year round, personally I don't know what pleasure someone could get slipping and sliding all over the place through all the salt and sand they put on the roads in these magnificant automobiles. Hell I didn't enjoy what little summer they had here in my C2 because the roads are either so poor, or under construction, or getting tar and stoned. And the BUGS!! Love bug season in florida is nothing compared to the massive amount of insects here, my question is where do they come from? Hell it's frozen 11 months out of the year here.
Anyway, we move on to nicer places. Enjoy beautiful SFB, it is a wonderful place.

It would be great skiing if they had anything you could call a mountain. I know there is some skiing out their, but the verticle drop equates to little more than a mole hill. Buffalo, send your snow my way...The Adirondack's and Green Mountains would accept it with open arms!!!!

Your right Rockitman. It's one thing when your economy thrives on and looks forward to this. Hell, I have and could again live in Colorado, at least the sun shines there, and the wind... well stand here at the edge of Lake Dreary and it is only second to the wind on Mt. Washington.
I'm not kidding when I say we have not seen the sun in WEEKS.
Skiing here sucks, too cold and nothing but ice and wind.

For those of you who have seen Broadway plays, remember a great line in the play "A Chorus Line." One of the models said that "comitting suicide in Buffalo is redundant."

C'mon up to Alaska! In the Anchorage area the weather is (really) better then what you've mentioned.

It does get a little dark, however!

I was born and raised in a suburb of Buffalo and moved away 8 years ago and have never looked back. My wife and I have family back there and we always end up going there to visit. In fact, we're going there for XMas. Crap. I should be spending my vacation where its warm! I pity that you live there. Between crappy weather and no jobs, it has really turned into a friggin' sh#@hole.
