Default Windshield replacement?

Finalizing this deal here in Dallas and we are a windshield replacement away. My thought was to order one from Sonnen for $396 but need to figure out the shipping as seller and I are at somewhat of a pause over this issue. Is my local option only be the dealer? My other option is a new set of tires at dealers cost thrown in and do the glass separately.

its not your car, its not your problem. I would tell the guy when its got a new windshield youll buy it. If he wants to sell the car hell figure it out. I would agree to a price with and with out the windshield and let him bite. Just get a couple estimates to replace it and make it lean to your favor.

Does your insurance company offer free windshield replacement? Many states require it.

Yes USAA will replace your windshield but it's triple the price if I want OEM glass. I'd rather have new rubber at sellers cost thrown in. It brings th car back up to advertised price thus getting the CARFAX guarantee back.

USAA just replaced my 996 glass with OEM glass and new seal for 941.00. SafeLite did the swap and a perfect job. FYI, my Porsche dealer would only order the glass but did not offer install services. This was Brumos Porsche and your dealer may vary.

$396 for glass from Sonnen. Install can be done by my Porsche freak mechanics. Guards Red here too....The above dealer wants $400 to freight ship the glass, however I have a contact who can get it freighted for half that.

In the alternative, I asked for a set of Michelin Pilot Sports and I'll have USAA replace the glass in the coming months.

I had a small rock chip, beautifully State Farm wants to replace the windshield. my request was that they replace it with factory glass the process took about three weeks because one had to be shipped over from Germany, if I remember right the cost was just under $1000. In the past I had a windshield replaced on my E46M3 and it was not factory glass and I remember it being wavy and by far not the same quality as factory glass.

My recommendation is to use factory glass

It looks like cost is roughly $1000, but was that out of pocket or did your insurance cover it?

EDIT: I realize this is a stupid questions and will vary depending on coverage. I don't want to start another debacle about insurance...

Many insurance policies have a very low deductible for windshield glass to encourage owners to replace it rather than live with a cracked windshield that will impair your vision.
