Default Creating more leg/knee room

Happy New Year

I've been reading a few old post and am interested in getting more leg room in my 2001 996.
I am just under 6' 5'' AND have size 15 shoes lol, so gets a bit difficult to make sporty turns as my legs get in the way. Also, sometimes shifting/braking becomes slightly delayed as I need to position my right foot on an angle. First world problems!

So far, I think these are my options:

-T96 steering wheel
-Center Console delete
-Steering wheel extension

Not sure if I want to mess with the seats but any advice would be appreciated!

I'm also 6'-5" and own a 2001 C2. Trust me get the GT3 console delete kit. Totally transforms the car. In fact I installed mine one year ago today. Got it at ECS

Don't forget the new trim pieces around the radio when you move it up. The wires are long enough to feed them through. Overall the best thing I've done to the car.

Depending on your size, there are some nice after market leather race seats. At 6' I was not able to pass the broomstick test for most tracks. I had Leather electric seats even at the lowest most rear position. With Recaro seats and brackets on the sliders removed from a manual set of seats I have 3" with my helmet on. I'm sure other have had similar experience.

I recall a photo of Manute Bol (the ex professional basketball player) who was well over 7' tall. He, as a youth, had a VW beetle.

What he did was remove the front drivers seat and he drove the car from
the back bench seat.

Perhaps there would be a way to remove the rear jump seat and relocate the floor mounting of the driver's seat back 6" or so.

Thanks for the advice, will probably do the center console delete and keep my eyes open for a T96 wheel on ebay.

Gert at Carnewl sells the Navo Xtend 55. Brings the wheel back 55 mm while retaining stock air bag. Made my seating position comfortable with the seat extenders.

I have a 2001 Cab and I am 6'3"; I put in a T96 and the console delete. The wheel really helps because of the flat bottom, it is easier to get my leg under when entering or exiting the car; but it does block the instruments to a mildly irritating degree.

The console delete is fantastic and really makes the interior look a lot cleaner and neater. The added leg room is significant - no console cutting into my leg and I can move about a lot more on a long trip. I do have the "Hi-Fi" stereo, so I had to find somewhere to stash the DSP unit up behind the carpeted panel that comes with the delete.

I thought about the steering extender but it is very expensive, IMO. I would consider "extend my seat" but I don't think it would be a benefit for my cab more than about an inch.

Good luck

I'm 6' 4", and my dealer had me sit in a 991 recently, much more legroom.
