Question about 996 4S with Power Package.
Hey all,
I've been having a really hard time finding information regarding tuning options for my car. I have a 2004 996 4S Cabrio with the Power Package, so it has 345HP. It seems the package changes quite a few components, and I'm trying to find information on what I can change that will actually make an impact.
Any input would be greatly appreciated. Relatively new to the car, still under a year, but absolutely love it!
Thanks in advance.

You've got a special car there. There aren't too many C4S cabriolets around, and I think there are very few with the X51 Power Kit. Does your car have a manual transmission? It sounds great....
Unfortunately, there aren't too many options to increase the power on the M96 engine, especially if you already have X51. You'll see many claims about intakes and exhausts that increase power, but I don't think you'll see significant gains. You can have an ECU flash done that will help a little bit with throttle response, but you won't really be able to see big increases.
Aside from adding a supercharger or turbocharger, I think you can very quickly waste lots of money without seeing any real improvements. If that was my car, I would simply drive it and enjoy it!

Thanks for the fast responses everyone. I absolutely love the car. It's a Speed Yellow Manual C4S cab with the x51 package.
The IMS and clutch were done in 2013, and the previous owner put almost no KM on the car since... I've already done what he did in two years in 6 months.....
Waterpump and alternator were also done in 2014.
The car currently needs front brakes, I replaced the rear as soon as I bought it. Suspension is stock, and seems solid, although the fronts feel like they could be going soon..

As others have said, there isn't much you can change to better the X51 package. I love mine and how it pulls consistently through the rev range; enjoy it!
The only thing I've been wanting to change for years now on mine is the suspension. Going to go with the euro-spec C4S springs and shocks eventually...I've just been procrastinating for awhile but with over 120,000kms on it, it seems like it would be a good time to refresh the suspension.

Here are a few pics.. haven't taken many yet. I was thinking of suspension as well I just hit 116000km this week so I'm getting to that time. Would have been nice to get a bit more power, but couldn't justify the extra 20 grand for the turbo..
Doesn't look as nice but she's ready for winter!

Thanks, I was hesitant about the yellow at first but it's definitely growing on me. Although the wife is dying for me to vinyl wrap it.
I've heard great things about the Tubi exhaust.. but I like the PSE in dash switch to silence it up.. Although I only do it on cold starts for the sake of my neighbours..
Anyone have experience with electric cut-out? Figured it might be a good way to get the sound when I want it and repurpose the dash switch.

there are threads in the 997 section pertaining to relocated / added electric switches added
for the PSE
consider a short shift kit to improve the driving experience, combine that with a 340mm steering wheel
and you'll really like the car

ah the Wheel is a good idea too.. The previous owner said he installed a short shifter, but I feel the throw is still a little long. He didn't provide details as to which short shifter was installed though. Might take out the centre console in the spring to take a peak.
And I'll take a look in the 997 section for electric cut out.
Thanks for the quick responses everyone!
